About Wolf Plushies
Howl like a wolf and run off with one of the furry creatures! Like dogs, wolfs have a pack mentality. Once they find a home, they remain ever loyal. A wolf plushie will protect you no matter what! Wolf plushies are just as soft and cuddly as dog plushies, but they still have a little bit of a ‘wild’ side.
Wolf plushie characteristics
Wolf plushies strongly resemble certain types of dog plushies, but are usually more rugged and have slightly longer fur. While they look a bit like Czechoslovakian Wolf Dog plushies or German Shepherd plushies, they feature a more distinctive snout and gradient fur, featuring grays and browns. Another thing that sets them apart from dogs, is their bushy tail.
Famous Wolves (available as stuffed animals)
Though there are plenty of famous wolves to be found in world literature, folklore, film, and video games, few of them have starring roles. The most prolific wolf to star in his own franchise is Balto, the half-wolf from the 1995 movie of the same name. Balto’s story is loosely based on a true story about a Siberian Husky who helped save children infected with diphtheria in the 1925 serum run to Nome. Balto was moderately successful, but the film’s success was overshadowed by the release of Toy Story (1995). Still, Balto plushies were sold for some time, and if you look in the right place, you might still find one.
Most other wolves either have supporting roles in the stories they’re featured in, or play the part of the villain. Famous wolves include the hungry wolves from Little Red Riding Hood and The Wolf and the Seven Young Goats, the sheep-hunting Ralph Wolf from Looney Tunes (1930-1969), the prehistoric dire wolves featured in the book series A Song of Ice and Fire (1991-) and the TV-show Game of Thrones (2011-2019), and the wise Akela from Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book (1984). Akela was additionally featured in the Walt Disney animated feature film The Jungle Book (1967), which earned him plushie-status.
