Stuffed Animal Chickens

Just like cows, pigs and goats, chickens are of course unmissable on a farm. The rooster wakes you up in the morning and in the afternoon you can visit the chickens to see if the eggs have been laid. Stuffed animal chickens are also fun to keep in the garden – or in your bedroom – to watch them scamper around. They are especially nice when they start breeding in the spring and little stuffed animal chicks emerge!

Chicken plushie characteristics

Most stuffed animal chickens have wings and feathers, placing them among the birds. They are small, powerful animals used for various purposes, such as producing eggs, meat and other foods. However, like penguins and ostriches, they cannot fly. You can recognize most chicken plushies by their strong, short legs and their somewhat bulbous tail. Chickens have feathers that protect them from heat, cold and rain.

You can buy stuffed animal chickens in different shapes and sizes. Chicks you can often quickly recognize by their yellow color and cute beady eyes. Chickens, on the other hand, come in white, brown, black and various other colors. You may have also noticed that many stuffed animal chickens have red crests and wattles. This is because most actual chickens have these features. They also serve an important role in keeping their bodies cool – and are important for reproduction!

Famous Chickens (available as stuffed animals)

There are many famous stuffed chickens, but surely the two most popular chickens are rooster Foghorn Leghorn from the Looney Tunes (1946) and the titular character from Disney’s Chicken Little (2005), based on European folk tale Henny Penny. Foghorn Leghorn, who is still very popular today as a stuffed animal, was one of the first chicken characters. Foghorn Leghorn watches over the chickens on his farm, including old hen Miss Prissy, but constantly gets into mischief himself. Perhaps the most famous modern chicken characters come from Aardman Animations’ stop-motion animation film Chicken Run (2000). These plucky chickens were also immortalized as stuffed animals.

Finally, there’s the 11-year-old, selfish but smart Chicken, the unlikely brother of Cow from the animated series Cow and Chicken (1997). Fortunately, Chicken plushies enjoy firm cuddles more than their animated inspiration.

In our own world, we often see a special kind of chicken along the highway: the fast food chain KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) offers us a different perspective on the chicken. KFC has been around for more than 50 years; the chain opened its first franchise in 1952. Since the entire concept of KFC revolves around their fried chicken, we recommend leaving your chicken plushie at home when visiting the restaurant!
