Sheep plushie characteristics

Sheep plushies are often the softest and most fluffy toys in any toy shop. Stuffed animal designers model the plushies after sheep, usually trying to mimic the real-life animals' wooly appearance. Sometimes, actual wool is used, like with llamas and alpacas.

Since sheep aren’t exactly the smartest animals around, plush sheep often have a rather silly, innocent look on their faces. To accentuate their cuddly nature, some sheep plushie designs have their limbs and necks shortened to small stubs – or leave them out altogether; this turns the animals into literal balls of wool.

Famous Sheep (available as stuffed animals)

Despite the sheep plushies’ popularity, there are surprisingly few famous fictional sheep. At the top of the short list of celebrity-sheep stands Aardman Animations’ Shaun the Sheep, the clay-animated sheep from the Wallace and Gromit-short A Close Shave (1995), and the long-running spin-off TV series Shaun the Sheep (2007-). Shaun is a clever, confident sheep, but prone to mischief. One of his co-stars is cousin Timmy, a small, innocent lamb. Timmy greatly admires Shaun, but often gets him into trouble. Timmy’s popularity earned him his own spin-off series, Timmy Time (2009-2012). Both Shaun and Timmy are available as stuffed animals.

After the sheep created by Aardman Animations, the list of famous sheep quiets down to obscure secondary characters, which have no plushies modeled after them. Still, sheep plushies are in high demand: the many original plushie designs based on sheep can be found anywhere!
