Planet plushie characteristics

Planets are celestial bodies that move around a star. Planets have a round shape, but unlike stars, they do not emit light: no nuclear fusion takes place inside them. The eight planets in our solar system are, respectively, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Until 2006, Pluto additionally had the status of a planet. Among others, Pluto has been classified as a dwarf planet along with Ceres and Eris, since the IAU’s 26th Congress in Prague.

Plushie planets are mostly based on existing planets, but not always on real planets. Plenty of fictional planets have appeared in the media over the past 100 years to work with in designing stuffed animal toys. Most planet plushies combine the colors of its model planet with a cute face. In addition to stuffed animal planets, there are also stuffed animal stars, stuffed animal black holes and more. But: only the plushie planets feature real stuffed animals such as zebra plushies and camel plushies!

Famous Planets (available as stuffed animals)

As mentioned, our solar system has eight planets. These planets differ in size and composition and each has its specific atmosphere and level of gravity. Mercury is the smallest planet and is closest to the sun, Jupiter is the largest, and Neptune is the farthest from the sun. Another fun fact: Venus is the only planet that rotates in the opposite direction compared to the other planets. And of course we know Saturn from its rings… All planet plushies have their own unique characteristics and properties. This makes it very nice to bring the entire collection into your home! All of our solar system’s planets were immortalized as stuffed toys by Celestial Buddies.

Next to Earth, of all the planets Mars is the most famous. Ever since A Trip to Mars (1910), the planet has regularly been the focus of feature films. From sci-fi adventures like It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958) and Red Planet (2000), to action films and comedies such as Mars Attacks (1996) and John Carter (2012) and “scientific” films such as The Martian (2015), the red planet provides room for imagination. Of course, many documentaries have also been made about our own planets.

Fictional planets are often invented for books, series and films. This is also the case in the world-famous Star Wars films (1977). True Star Wars fans are probably familiar with the planets Tatooine, Endor, Dagobah, Bespin, Coruscant and Mustafar. Each of these planets has its own unique features, areas and landscapes. Special new planets also appear in Star Trek (1966), Dune (2021), Alien (1979), Serenity (2005) and Avatar (2009). Some of these planets were immortalized as stuffed animals.
