The most popular bunny plushie modeled after a ‘celebrity’ is based on the Dutch picture book star Miffy. Miffy is a small female rabbit, drawn by Dutch artist Dick Bruna. Though Miffy plushies are sold in many color varieties, the little rabbit is always easy to recognize: Dick Bruna drew her as a stylized form of a rabbit, using minimalist black graphic lines. Equally popular is Looney Tunes (1930-1969) star Bugs Bunny, the flippant hare who became the official mascot of Warner Bros. Entertainment. Though the character was created in the late 1930s, Bugs is still considered one of the most recognizable characters in the world. Bugs’ exaggerated long neck and limbs, gloved hands, and oversized feet, were designed to make him distinctively different from Walt Disney’s cute animal characters.
